Social Adv
I Sargassi’s experience as professional trainers teaches us that the lack of reference points on behalf of teens or their inability to raisetheir own social role or identity within their environment can often lead to extremely risky behaviour resulting in school dropout,social apathy and deviance.
By understanding and living through several realities and situations on a daily basis, we have become aware that many youngsters act as social transgressors, leading at times to future, more serious discomfort; others give way to nutritional disorders, using their body as a tool for rebellion; again, others regularly take ecstasy and alcohol to feel tuned with their reference group’s cultural context, feeling “one of them” and feeling “high”.
The careful work carried out involves awareness of youngsters’ problems, and this has enabled us to identify some key functions for which risky behaviour is adopted by young adolescents in first place:
- early development of behavioural habits considered normal in adults;
- the need to get away from parent dependence in order to form their identity as adults;
- the need to differentiate themselves from significant adults, identifying themselves as individuals having unique features;
- adoption of new behaviours to test their skills;
- violating the rules of the adult world to comply with rules better suiting their needs, to demonstrate their decision-making skills;
- enhancing any new trial;
- the need to overcome any limit to prove to themselves and toothers they are fearless of new things and able to control theiractions without the need of an adult.
Generally, prevention interventions feature meetings and/or lessons with the students, and aim at providing detailed guidance concerning so-called ”risky” substances and behaviours. From our daily experience involving professional training of youngsters who wish to work, we decided to integrate to the above mentioned data videos and photographs depicting risky habits and behaviourduring so called “high” moments.
After years of hard work devoted to professional training ofyoungsters, we believe that the first way to prevent any form of discomfort is to release useful information to allow students to know what they are doing, as well as dedicating the same importance to ”taking pictures” in order to give the proper meaning and the right image to behaviour.
I Sargassi wishes to actively reduce violent actions, with the opportunity to promote development of visual messages through the production of effective photographic material in terms of mass communication.
I Sargassi’s goal is to raise pride in young people as well as their sense of belonging developed from the awareness of their vivid and active role within the Social reality, thus raising awareness towards a democratic and lawful life-style.
The brand I Sargassi not only aims at beauty and fashion, but alsoat youngsters’ social image: a distinguishing feature as a contribution to social integration of young people and to integration as a whole.
